Human Design compatibility, without the myths.

"Which types are compatible?" is the most-asked and worst-answered question in Human Design. The honest answer: compatibility isn't in the types. It's in the mechanics of two specific charts — and those mechanics are readable. Try it below with your two charts, free.

The four connection dynamics

When two bodygraphs are overlaid into a connection chart, every channel falls into one of four dynamics:

  • Electromagnetic — you carry one gate, they carry its harmonic. Together you complete a channel neither has alone. This is chemistry: the pull of "you complete me," which can be the best or the stormiest part of a relationship, depending on the channel.
  • Compromise — one of you has the whole channel; the other has one gate. The full-channel person's frequency dominates that theme, and the hanging-gate person chronically feels slightly overridden there. Not fatal — but it needs naming.
  • Dominance — one defines something the other has completely open. The open person receives it as conditioning; handled consciously it's a gift of stability, unconsciously it becomes "I don't know who I am around you."
  • Companionship — you both have the same definition. Nothing to negotiate: easy, familiar, and — in large doses — comfortable to the point of low spark.

Why type-pairing advice fails

Listicles that pair types ("Manifestors match best with Reflectors") ignore that two people of any types can have wildly different connection mechanics depending on their gates and centers. What actually predicts friction and flow: where your open centers meet their definition, how many electromagnetic channels you form, and whose authority gets honored when you decide together.

What to look at in your two charts

  1. Each person's chart alone first. A relationship can't be more correct than the two people in it — start with each person's type, strategy, and authority.
  2. Defined vs. open centers, side by side. Where one is open and the other defined, conditioning flows — name it before it names you.
  3. Complete each other's channels? Electromagnetics are your attraction map — look up each completed channel's theme in our channel guides.
  4. Decision-making as a couple. An emotional authority partnered with a splenic one has a timing mismatch built in: one needs to wait, one knows now. Most recurring arguments are mechanics, not character.

A Relationship Analysis reads the full connection chart live — both designs, all four dynamics, and the practical agreements that make the mechanics work for you instead of on you. It's our most requested reading, for couples, business partners, and parents with children.
