Large groups: the WA and the OC16
The Penta holds up to five people. Past about ten, in person, a different form takes over: the WA, organized by a channel set called the OC16, the Organizing Channels of a Group of 16.
It is the least known of the three auric forms and the one most people are inside for forty hours a week.
Three forms, three agendas
Which frequencies get pulled out of you depends on the physical grouping you are standing in. Alone, your own design runs. In a small group, the Penta runs and its concern is material. In a large group, the WA runs and its concern is striving. These are three different agendas, and moving between them in a single day is why people describe themselves as different people at home and at work.

What the OC16 organizes
In a small group the twelve Penta gates describe what each person contributes to the whole. In a large one the organizing channels describe something else: lines of communication between the people who sit at the head of a function. The WA does not distribute work evenly across everyone present. It appoints, and it appoints on the basis of what people carry rather than what they were hired to do.
The six power bases
A large group arranges itself into six departmental functions, and each one is fed by specific activations held by specific people.

Management is the base most often better served by two people than one, because the activations feeding it split into two groups: one set defers toward Gate 45 and the other toward Gate 21. Friction between the people holding those positions is built into the structure rather than being a personality clash, which is a useful thing to know before restructuring a department over it.

Why no two large businesses are alike
A power base that is not fully represented leaves its department unable to become generative or stay in power. That is a structural fact about who is in the building, and no amount of strategy work substitutes for the missing activation. All large businesses do not equal each other, and the few that hold every base at once are visible from a long way off for that reason.
Where this sits in the training
The large group material is the deep end. It runs as its own track of three semesters after BG5 certification, because reading power bases across a real organization is a different discipline from reading one chart or one family. What is the WA in Human Design?
The WA is the trans-auric form that appears when roughly ten or more people are physically together. It is the third auric form in the system, after the individual aura and the Penta. Where a Penta organizes a small group around material security, the WA organizes a large one around striving, and it pulls specific roles out of the people inside it rather than letting them bring their whole designs.
What does OC16 stand for?
The Organizing Channels of a Group of 16. It is the channel set the WA form uses, in the same way the Penta uses its own six channels. The name refers to the size of group the organizing structure is built to hold.
What is the difference between a Penta and a WA?
Scale and purpose. A Penta forms at three to five people and drives toward material security, which is why it underpins families and small businesses. The WA forms at around ten or more and drives toward striving, which is why it underpins departments, institutions and companies large enough to have an org chart. They are not the same mechanic at different sizes. A large company is not a big family.
What are the power bases?
Six departmental functions the large group form organizes itself into: management, competitiveness, direction, logical enforcement, interaction and innovation. Each one is fed by particular activations carried by particular people. A power base that is not fully represented leaves that department unable to hold its own, which is a structural gap rather than a hiring problem.
Why are large businesses so different from one another?
Because no two of them have the same power bases represented. All large businesses do not equal each other. One with a fully staffed management base and nobody feeding competitiveness behaves nothing like one built the other way round, and neither of them can fix the difference through effort. The rare companies that hold every base at once are conspicuous for exactly that reason.
Is Gate 45 a Penta gate?
No, and this is a common mix-up. The channel of 45 and 21 looks tribal and gets read that way, but it is WA energy rather than Penta energy. Gate 45 is the figurehead position for a large group, which is a bigger and more public function than anything the Penta produces.
