Quarter by Quarter: The 16 Faces of the Godhead

Quarter by Quarter is Ra Uru Hu's series on the sixteen faces of the Godhead, the archetypes that group the gates of the wheel four at a time. It runs to twenty-two lessons, twenty-one hours and twenty-five minutes of audio with an ebook: a lecture for each of the sixteen faces, plus lessons that draw the faces and the quarters together. The face lectures begin in the Quarter of Initiation with Kali and end in the Quarter of Mutation with the Keepers of the Wheel. Ra numbers the faces from Hades at Gate 1, so Kali is Face 5 even though hers is the first face lecture. Each face lecture is also sold on its own.

Every gate in a quarter shares its bottom two lines, and every gate in a face shares its bottom four, which is how sixteen groups of four fall out of the sixty-four. Find the gate of your Personality Sun and you have found your face, along with the story your conditioned mind tends to act out when you live as the not-self, the dead myth of that godhead.

My Personality Sun is in Gate 30, which puts me under Kali. I bought the series around 2015, while I was still deep in deconditioning, and a good share of it went over my head. It stayed with me anyway, and it started my interest in the way the mechanics turn up in human mythology. I tell students it may or may not be correct for them to go this deep, and that the lecture for their own face is the place to begin.

For analysts, the face is one more layer of the quarter. I have analysts enter every Incarnation Cross through the quarter of the Personality Sun, and the face narrows that register to four gates and gives a client mythic language for a theme they may already recognize in their own life. I also lean on this series in my cosmology teaching whenever a fixed star or a long transit sits in a particular face, as Vega does in Vishnu's section of the wheel.
