A transit conditions wherever you have openness: most simply an entire Center that's undefined in your own chart, but an open gate or channel inside an otherwise defined Center picks it up too. Defined, with the gate itself activated, runs its own steady theme regardless of what the sky is doing.
Throat
An undefined Throat has no consistent voice of its own; how you speak changes with the company you keep. The conditioning theme is trying to attract attention: talking to be noticed, interrupting, or acting under pressure to prove you exist. Healthy, the undefined Throat waits to be invited into conversation and can become a gifted, versatile communicator.
Root
An undefined Root absorbs and amplifies the stress pressure around it, feeling it more intensely than the people generating it. The classic conditioning is hurrying to be free of the pressure: rushing tasks, saying yes to get things over with, living in a permanent race to an empty inbox. The wisdom side is knowing which pressures are actually worth acting on.

Gate 31 line 2 is the leader a room turns to without being asked, and it turns down the rooms it was never called to. Gate 41 line 2 works the same discrimination into appetite: not every want that shows up gets fed. Between the Sun in one and the Earth in the other, roughly 70% of today’s field is already spoken for.
Gate 31 is influence: a voice a room follows because it is worth following, with no announcement needed. Gate 41 is the pressure to feel something new, the opening gate of the stream that runs through 30 and 29 toward every experience a life ends up having. On the second line, both of them get particular about which calls they answer.
Second-line influence does not campaign. It waits to be called out by name, by a room that already trusts it, and it declines the invitations that only flatter it. Second-line pressure works the same way underneath: the wanting is real, but only some of what arrives gets let in, and what gets refused is refused because it was never actually this line’s to take, however attractive it looked from outside.
A good opportunity you did not ask for shows up today, arriving because someone else recognized something in you, alongside a separate good opportunity you are going to pass on, because it was never yours. Both are the same mechanism working two different gates.
A 31.2 day can pull someone into answering every call as though visibility itself were the invitation. Leadership on this line answers to recognition, not to opportunity in general, and a call that only wants an audience is not the same as a call that wants this particular voice. Answering the wrong one spends the room’s trust on something it never actually asked for.
The transit completes 30-41 on its own, with the North Node sitting in Gate 30 and the Earth in Gate 41: desire and the pressure to feel it, wired straight through. 45-21 is still running underneath as well, Mars and Saturn holding the Money Line steady while today’s discrimination happens somewhere else in the chart entirely.
