What's Your Success Story, future Human Design Professional?

Before you take a single client, LaVeena B. Archers, PhD has six contemplation questions for anyone considering becoming a Human Design professional, plus a look at what actually makes a guide's business sustainable.

These are my suggested questions to ponder if you are considering becoming a successful Human Design Professional. I recorded this as an introduction to my Living Your Design Guide training program, and before we get into any technique, any chart reading skill, or any business strategy, I want you to sit with your own story first. Not because your story is the product you’re selling. Because it’s the ground everything else grows out of.

What’s Your Success Story?

The first question I ask everyone who’s thinking about doing this work professionally is simple: do you remember the beginning of your journey with Human Design? Do you remember when Human Design found you?

That moment matters more than people realize when they’re starting out. It’s the beginning of your success story, and grounding into what that experience actually did for you is what lets you convey its benefits correctly to the people you’re meant to serve. We all came to this system at a different time, in a different life circumstance, carrying different wounds and different questions. If you can learn to share the fruit of your own experience, the lessons you personally learned, you’re far more likely to attract the people who are actually right for you to guide.

I want you to get a piece of paper and a pen and write these questions down this week, especially if you’ve already decided to move forward with training. Consider it food for contemplation as you work through the transformation involved in becoming a guide.

Do You Remember Your Mind’s Lies?

The second question: do you remember the first time you saw your mind’s lies for what they were, and could let them go instead of acting on them?

This is a different kind of memory than the first question. The first is about the discovery of the system. This one is about the specific moment the not-self voice got caught in the act. Most people who go on to teach Human Design professionally can point to a moment like this, a decision they almost made from fear or from the strategic thinking mind, and then didn’t, because something in the body said no. That gap between what your mind was telling you and what your body actually knew is the raw material of everything you’ll eventually help other people find in themselves.

Foster an Awareness of Your Own Frequency

Before I explain any of the business mechanics, I want to encourage you to notice how you’re here to be a different kind of Human Design professional than the guide sitting next to you in training. Every one of us has our own frequency, our own design, and we’re each here to teach from our own wisdom potential, not from a template. I’m a certified Profit Potential Coach, so that’s one of the lenses I’ll be working through with you as we move forward, in a way that supports you whether you end up using this material for yourself, your family, your personal development, or your professional practice. I’m also a certified BG5 Career and Business Consultant and a teacher, so you may hear me explain concepts along the way that go a little beyond the guide curriculum itself. I can’t help it. If something is going to help you understand where you belong and what your role actually is, I’ll teach it, because that understanding is part of the coaching process as we move through this certification together.

Being Compensated Is Part of the Work

I want to say something directly here, because a lot of people who feel called to this work carry guilt about charging for it. If you’re moving forward as a guide, this isn’t charity work. You want to be compensated for your time, and learning to connect with the right people is part of your strategy for building a sustainable practice.

There’s a distinction I make in this training between opening the door to someone’s true self and selling to their not-self. That distinction is the actual business of Human Design. Our open centers are where we’re susceptible to being sold to, and they’re also where we’re capable of selling others, whether or not that’s aligned. The moment you stop trying to control your life with your conscious, conditioned mind, your life settles into the flow it needs to go. That’s not a metaphor I’m offering to make you feel better. It’s the mechanic underneath a sustainable practice.

Two Paths, and Only One Feels Like You

There are two different paths available to anyone doing this work, and I’ve walked both of them. One path is where you’re doing it in alignment, meaning it feels peaceful, satisfying, successful, or surprising, depending on your Type’s signature theme. The other path is where you’re trying to control how much you make, who you serve, and where you go. On that second path, nothing is ever quite satisfying and nothing ever comes easily.

In training future guides, my job is to hold both sides of this at once: helping you build a bottom line that actually supports you, and helping you learn how to open the door to your own true self first, before you ever try to apply that opening with a client. The work is resonating at the frequency of what those people already need to know, so that they find you, rather than chasing down the right people yourself. That’s a very different orientation than the hustle most business training pushes on people, and it’s the one Human Design actually points toward.

Human Design Isn’t for Everyone, and That’s the Point

Ra Uru Hu said Human Design isn’t for everyone. It never will be. It’s only for those who are ready, and readiness is a kind of serendipity, a door opening slightly, a moment of possibility where it becomes genuinely possible to go a different way. That’s the invitation this system offers, and it’s the invitation you’ll be extending to your own future clients: a door left open for the people whose timing has finally arrived, rather than a sales pitch.

That’s also true for you as a student in a program like this. You might go through the whole Living Your Design Guide training and decide you never want to formally teach the program. That’s fine. You might use everything you learn here in your own consulting, coaching, or therapy practice instead, applying it to yourself and your business without ever running a group. What I’m here to help you do goes beyond delivering a curriculum. I want you to learn how to apply this material in your own life first, for yourself, so that whatever you build afterward is built on something real.

Bring Your Questions

As you sit with these two questions this week, I also want you thinking ahead to your own success as a guide, because all of us are very different, and all of us are here for very specific people. Success in this work is mostly a matter of being in the right place at the right time for the people who are meant to find you, or who are meant to be attracted to you, and learning how to be the kind of leader who can be found without constantly initiating contact, unless of course your natal design is Manifested, in which case initiating is simply how you’re built to move. Whatever questions this raises for you, about your own place in this work or about where you’re headed as a future guide, bring them. That’s genuinely part of how this training is meant to unfold, one contemplation and one honest question at a time.

Where to Go From Here

If this stirred something in you, the two questions above are the place to start, not a certificate. Sit with them for a week before you sign up for anything. If you find you’re already living the answers, and you’re ready to formalize the training that actually equips you to guide others through Strategy and Authority, my Professional Living Your Design Guide certification walks through the full Living Your Design, Rave ABCs, and Rave Cartography sequence that leads into becoming a certified guide. You can also see the complete training path, from foundations through Professional Analyst work, on the course catalog.

Resonance Is the Actual Marketing Plan

I know that’s a strange thing to hear if you came into this training expecting a marketing playbook. Most business training tells you to define your niche, build your funnel, and chase your ideal client. What I’m describing here works differently, and it took me years of walking both paths to trust it. When your own frequency is aligned, the vibrational frequency of what a specific person needs to know is the thing that draws them toward you. You don’t need to convince them. You need to be correctly, honestly yourself, out loud, often enough that the right person can recognize it. That’s a much slower process to trust than a funnel, and it’s also the only version of this work that holds up over years instead of months.

This is why I keep coming back to your success story instead of your service menu. A service menu can be copied by anyone. Your actual transformation, the specific way Human Design found you and the specific lies your mind used to tell you before you could see them clearly, cannot be copied by anyone else. That’s the thing that’s actually going to draw the right people to you, whether you end up teaching Living Your Design formally, working one on one as a coach or consultant, or simply living this material more honestly inside your own family and friendships.

Your success story as a Human Design professional doesn’t start with a client roster. It starts with the honest answer to those first two questions, written down, in your own handwriting, this week.
