The Relationship between the Human Design Channels of Charisma and Structuring

Two channels in the bodygraph sit directly opposite each other in the mandala wheel, and the gates that make them are next-door neighbors. That adjacency is not a coincidence, and it explains a great deal about how these two designs work together.

The gates are genetically similar

Color in the 20-34 Channel of Charisma on the wheel and you have Gate 34, Power, in the Sacral opposite Gate 20, The Now, in the Throat.

Now look at where Gate 43 and Gate 23 sit. Gate 23 is right next door to Gate 20. Gate 43 is right next door to Gate 34.

Gate activations that sit beside each other on the wheel are genetically similar, because the wheel is a progression and the codons progress with it. Compare 43 and 34 and the difference is a single line: line 5 is a yin line in the 34 and a yang line in the 43. That is the whole distinction between them.

So there is a real genetic relationship between 23 and 20, and between 43 and 34. And because each pair sits in opposition on the wheel, each pair forms a channel.

A missile and a guidance system

Generators have an open, enveloping, magnetic aura. It is porous, it pulses outward, and it draws in things to respond to.

The 20-34 on its own is chaotic and messy. I have heard it described as a missile without a guidance system, and that is about right: enormous propulsion, no steering.

Happily, the 43-23 is a mental Projector channel, and it is the guidance system for that missile. The 43-23 belongs to the Cross of Explanation: flashes of insight paired with the ability to explain, and above all the ability to ask the right questions.

Neither Projectors nor Generators have the aura shield that Manifestors and Reflectors carry. So when a 43-23 Projector and a 20-34 Manifesting Generator come into relationship, the Projector’s focus penetrates right to the core. Because the two designs are genetically similar, it works like a key fitting the right lock.

The condition is the same as always. The Generator has to do the inviting, and be emotionally clear about wanting this particular guidance. Without the invitation, the questions go nowhere.

One gate is enough

The full channel is not required on either side. My daughter carries her own 43, and I carry the 23, so my questions land in her design and help her get in touch with her own knowing. Either half can supply some guidance, provided the interaction is invited.

I do not always know where the questions come from. It is a sense of awareness about what might light someone up.

Why these channels are so common

Only three channels are formed by oppositions in the wheel: the 20-34, the 43-23, and the 40-37 Channel of Community, the design of a part seeking a whole.

Every time the Sun sits in one of those gates, the Earth is exactly opposite, which means the channel is completed by the transit itself. So each of these three channels gets activated for about a week, twice a year, for everyone.

The nodes compound it. They take 18.6 years to travel the wheel, spending 106 days in a gate and 17.7 days in a line, so every nodal shift produces a three-month cohort of people born with these channels. Any planet can create them, which is why they turn up so often.
