A transit conditions wherever you have openness: most simply an entire Center
that's undefined in your own chart, but an open gate or channel inside an otherwise
defined Center picks it up too. Defined, with the gate itself activated, runs its
own steady theme regardless of what the sky is doing.
An undefined Heart has no consistent willpower of its own, and no fixed sense of self-worth. Around defined Hearts it amplifies will energy and then overcommits, promising more than it can sustainably deliver. The core conditioning theme is proving: working harder, promising bigger, and undervaluing yourself to demonstrate worth that was never actually in question.
An undefined Solar Plexus doesn't generate emotions but takes in and amplifies everyone else's, often feeling their feelings more intensely than they do. The classic conditioning is avoiding confrontation and truth to keep the peace, becoming a chronic pleaser out of fear of triggering emotion. Healthy, it's an empathic screen that reads emotional weather with remarkable wisdom.

The Sun is in Gate 40 line 2. The Earth is in Gate 37 line 2, the opposite pole of the same axis.
Gate 40 is the single hand that provides, the muscle that carries the load for the group, and it is called Aloneness because that hand has to be able to step away and be by itself in order to keep working at all. Line 2 is the natural. The gift is already in place, whole, without training, marketing, or a plan behind it. It does not know how it does what it does, and it does not really want to explain it. Line 2 in a gate about solitary provision means competence that sits on its own and functions at full strength the moment something real asks for it.
The Earth grounds this in Friendship, the same line, the natural bond. Gate 37 is the warmth that holds a community together through agreements and shared meals, and its second line is the friend who is simply a friend without terms. Set opposite the working hand of Gate 40, the two form the channel 40-37, the bargain: I give the work, you give the belonging. Both ends today are the natural version, unconstructed, and the transit completes this channel on its own, so the exchange is live in the field whether or not anyone negotiates it out loud.
How the day actually runs: capacity is present and unadvertised. Things get done well by whoever already knows how, working largely alone, with results that look easier than they are. The call comes from outside. Someone needs it, names it, and the strength shows up. Going out to offer the same strength to a room that has not asked tends to land flat, because line 2 has no pitch in it.
The common misreading is to hear Aloneness as coldness or withdrawal, and to treat a quiet person on this transit as unwilling. The solitude here is the recharging condition for the work, and the Earth in Friendship keeps the whole thing pointed at other people. The other misreading is the more modern one, the belief that a natural gift ought to be packaged, positioned, and pushed. Today it wants to be recognized, and recognition arrives through the eyes of whoever needs the thing done.
Around the edges, Mercury sits at 40.4 in the same gate, so words are already prepared and waiting for someone to draw them out. The Nodes run 30.6 to 29.6, and the transit also completes 30-41 through Pluto at 41.2, giving the day a low background pressure of longing and fresh starts under an old compulsion. Mars at 39.3 pokes at moods for a reaction, Saturn at 21.5 wants control over resources it is not entitled to, and Uranus at 20.6 keeps flipping the present moment into something unexpected. Venus at 32.2 measures what deserves to endure, Jupiter at 7.1 protects order, Neptune at 25.6 fogs the innocent with imagination, and the Moon through 25.3 keeps feelings moving faster than facts.
