Emotional Authority - Defined Solar Plexus - Why to Wait for Clarity
With a defined Solar Plexus there is no truth in the now. How emotional authority really works: why the high is more dangerous than the low, and how to buy time.
If you have a defined Solar Plexus center, you have emotional authority, and there is no such thing as truth in the now for you. Your clarity is not a feeling you locate on demand. It arrives over time, once you have felt a decision from more than one point on your emotional wave.
I teach this before almost anything else, because getting it wrong costs people years.
Feel your feelings, and notice who taught you not to
The first instruction is the simplest one, and it is the one most emotionally defined people were trained out of: feel your feelings. Do not be afraid to feel them.
I have watched this play out countless times. An emotional child grows up with an adult who has no emotional definition, who is not comfortable with the ups and downs, and who treats those ups and downs as a behavior problem. The child gets suppressed, medicated, or simply made wrong for having a wave at all. So the child learns to put a lid on it.
You cannot pressurize yourself indefinitely. At some point the pressure cooker blows, and there is an outburst, and then comes the embarrassment, and then the lid goes on tighter than before. That cycle is conditioning rather than design.
Urgency is not authority
Here is the practical test. If you feel an exaggerated urgency to act, if you are nervous and unsure and you just want the pressure gone so you say yes to make it stop, that is not your authority talking. That is the mind, which cannot tolerate the wait.
Your mind will produce excellent arguments for why you cannot afford to wait. It will run hypotheses. It will tell you the opportunity is closing. The operative term for you is patience, and patience is its own reward, because patience is the only thing that produces clarity.
Never make a choice while you are dysregulated. If you are crying, upset, or all over the map, cancel the engagement. Yes, even an important meeting. People push back on this: I promised, I have to, I should. But if your body does not want to go into that meeting, that is information. Someone may have just died. Something may have just broken. Time is what heals, and time is what a dysregulated person needs to off-gas the emotion and let it say what it needs to say. That is not the window for important decisions.
The high is more dangerous than the low
Most people assume the danger is deciding while you are down. The high is worse.
When you are up, when everything is wonderful and you can barely sit still, you will make a yes you regret later. You said yes without seeing any of the downs, and the downs carry real information about the whole picture. When you are high you have rose-colored glasses on. You genuinely cannot remember the last time you felt like your life was falling apart. That energy is not available to you in that moment.
The low has its own distortion. Down there you are wearing blinders, attuned only to whatever is in front of you that matches how you feel. We are resonant creatures, vibrating at a frequency, and at either extreme the frequency is doing the choosing.
I have left relationships at the bottom of my wave and regretted it for the rest of my life. Do not make my mistake.
Where the decision actually lives
Wait for the pressure to subside. Wait until you can feel that the timing is right. In practice that means no jitteriness, no anxiety, no lump in your throat you cannot swallow past.
Make the choice somewhere in the middle, and specifically at a point where you have already been both up and down on that particular question. Not up. Not down. Calm confidence, not excitement.
This is why the popular law-of-attraction instruction to follow your highest excitement is wrong for you, at least as a spontaneous practice. Your highest excitement is a position on a wave, and it will pass.
Healthy excuses, and how to buy the time
You are allowed to buy time, and you can do it gracefully. Some lines that work:
- Let me get back to you.
- Let me sleep on it.
- Can I have some time to process? This is a lot to take in right now.
- When do you need to know by?
That last one is the most useful, because it hands the deadline back to the other person and usually reveals that you have far more room than you assumed.
The further you can push a decision off, the healthier the outcome, if you were nervous when it was first put to you. At an absolute minimum, sleep on it. You wake up in a completely different mood from the one you went to bed in, and that difference is the whole point.
If you are a Projector with emotional authority, this compounds with your own strategy: once you have been recognized and invited as an advisor, the invitation still has to be waited out. Recognition does not shorten the wave.
Time is the only truth
For emotionally defined people, time gives perspective. Time is what tells you whether to back this bargain or that one, whether to give your energy to that person or that project, whether the passion you feel for something tonight is the kind that survives a week.
Time is your friend. Your mind is not.
If you are still working out which authority you run on, start with the full authority hierarchy, and if the Solar Plexus is defined in your chart then nothing below it applies to you: emotional authority overrides everything else.
