Uranus Opposition: The Cross Called Uncertainty

I teach the Uranus Opposition from my own chart in PTL2: a cycle cross literally named Uncertainty, a health crisis, and the six years it took to stop reading it as a personal failure.

The first time I looked at my own Uranus Opposition, before I understood any of this, I thought: I don’t want to do that. It looked terrible. I felt beaten down just reading it.

I use my own chart to teach the Uranus Opposition in PTL2, the same class where I teach my Saturn Return and my Chiron Return. The three cycles sit next to each other in that curriculum for a reason: each one recasts the same natal Profile into a different working Profile, and mine runs 3/5 at birth, 6/3 at my Saturn, 6/2 here, and 1/3 at my Chiron.

The cross with the name in it

My natal cross is the Right Angle Cross of Contagion. My Uranus Opposition recasts it as the Left Angle Cross of Uncertainty, and I have never found a cycle name that fit the lived experience more accurately. I lived through my not-self years still very much a third line, reading everything through pessimistic eyes rather than any layer of personal optimism, worried and scared and confused about exactly the thing the cross is named after.

Mine landed in 2021, at forty-four, on the later edge of the window this cycle usually opens in. I teach that window as thirty-eight to forty-four; you’ll see mid-thirties to mid-forties quoted elsewhere, and the narrower range is the one my own classroom runs on.

What it looked like from the inside

In 2019 I was seriously overworking myself. I had just moved, and the demand on my practice and my teaching load at BG5 kept rising, and I did not slow down to meet it. It ended in a health crisis, a genuine meltdown, and I had to pull back from how I was running things and reassess everything from the ground up. What came back out the other side of that retreat was stronger than what went in, but it did not feel that way at the time, and it took the full three and a half years the cycle needs to actually land before I could see the shape of it.

My Uranus Opposition brings its Mercury in at Gate 45, Line 5, an ego-level learning program running through the Channel of Money, the channel Ra called a design of materialism. I carry Gate 21 in the third line naturally, and a 21.3 does not do well working for someone else. I share that one from direct experience: right before I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s, I was still trying to make myself fit inside somebody else’s authority instead of my own.

Where it landed in the body

Ra identified Channel 20-34 as the one he saw most often in people who burned out their thyroids badly enough to lose them. I have an open throat, so I already knew I was vulnerable there, and Hashimoto’s is exactly what showed up in mine over the years this cycle was closing in.

What I actually tell my students

This cycle is the one Ra called the doorway into nine-centered maturity, the shift out of childhood programming and into an adult design that runs the rest of your life. Nobody gets to skip the three-and-a-half-year approach, and nobody gets to skip the discomfort of a cross that is, by name, about not knowing yet. What changes is how you read the window while you are inside it: as proof of personal failure, or as a cross named Uncertainty running on schedule.

Mine cost me years of overworking, a thyroid diagnosis, and a forced retreat from my own business before I stopped fighting it. It is also, on the other side, why I can teach it now with a straight face instead of a raw nerve.

If you want to see how this cycle sits next to the ones before and after it, my Saturn Return, Chiron Return, and Second Saturn get the same treatment, or you can book a Uranus Opposition reading of your own.
