Jimmy Carter's Human Design: The Cleanest Document in the Series
Not a quoted record, a photograph of one, held at his own presidential library. What a chart looks like when the documentation problem this series exists for simply isn't present.
Most of the AA-rated charts in this series rest on a quoted birth certificate, a researcher’s transcription of a document they had access to. Jimmy Carter’s rests on something one step further: a photograph of the record itself, supplied directly and held at an institution that still exists to check against.

Astro-Databank’s own note describes this as a “BC/BR in hand,” the top of its own reliability ladder: not a secondhand quote of a document someone once saw, but a photographed record supplied directly, held at a named public institution. Every other Rodden rating in this series is a statement about how much to trust an intermediary. This one has almost none to trust.
What holds at every hour of the day
I ran the full twenty-four hours of October 1, 1924, Plains, Georgia, at one-minute resolution in the site’s own engine. Two things never move:

Carter in Maia Mechanics at the stated 7:00am. Left Angle Cross of Upheaval 2, gates 18 and 17 personality, 39 and 38 design.
One channel holds all day, 55-39, Emoting, tying Root to Solar Plexus and carrying his Sacral undefined the entire time, the mechanical signature behind a Projector who’s never meant to generate sustainable energy through sheer effort, and whose only reliable authority is a wave that has to be given time to move before any real decision gets made.
Where it breaks: two boundaries, both well clear of the record

His documented 7:00 AM sits more than ten hours clear of the first boundary and better than thirteen hours clear of the second, deep inside the surviving 5/1 window with no boundary anywhere close. This is close to the least dramatic chart this series has run: the documentation is about as strong as this kind of record gets, and the chart itself doesn’t need that strength, because nothing about it was ever close to turning.
What his cycles show
Carter’s natal cross, the Left Angle Cross of Upheaval, carried on a 5/1 profile, runs on sensing the flaw in a system that’s gone stale and disrupting it until it reorganizes into something healthier, a purpose completed through the people it unsettles rather than through private achievement.
- Saturn Return, 1953, age 29. Under the Right Angle Cross of The Sphinx (1/2 | 7/13), his father died that July, and Carter resigned his Navy commission that fall to come home to Plains and take over the family’s peanut and farm-supply business.
- Uranus Opposition, 1965, age 41. Under the Right Angle Cross of Explanation (43/23 | 4/49), he was two years into chairing the Georgia Senate’s Education Committee, working to equalize funding between the state’s richest and poorest school districts.
- Chiron Return, 1974, age 49. Under the Right Angle Cross of Planning (16/9 | 37/40), he closed out his term as governor and announced his run for president at the National Press Club that December, a campaign few outside Georgia gave any chance.
- Second Saturn Return, 1982, age 58. Under the Left Angle Cross of Education (11/12 | 46/25), he and Rosalynn had founded The Carter Center that April, the platform that carried his post-presidential work in election monitoring and disease eradication for the next four decades.
His last Solar Return, and the day he died
Carter died on the afternoon of December 29, 2024, at his home in Plains, Georgia, in the same town where the record above says his life began a hundred years earlier, after nearly two years in hospice care. He was the longest-lived president in American history, and the only one to reach one hundred. The time, approximately 3:45 PM Eastern, comes from his family through the Carter Center’s announcement, not from a medical record, which leaves the series’ cleanest birth document paired with a death time held at a family’s precision rather than a physician’s.
His last Solar Return, the chart for his final birthday on October 1, 2024, his hundredth, landed his transiting Sun and Earth on the identical Gate 18 and Gate 17 they occupy natally, computed in Maia Mechanics against the photographed 7:00am record. One channel connected that year’s sky to his own design: the 63-4 Channel of Logic, the sky’s Gate 63 pressure of doubt reaching the Gate 4 formulization his own chart activates, a fitting final-year theme for a president who trained as an engineer.
