Rave Cosmology 6: Profile, Purpose and Function

Profile, Purpose and Function is Ra Uru Hu's deepest pass through the twelve profiles. He taught it in the spring semester of 2007, and it runs 10 hours across 10 lessons. He opens with the drama of profile: the story a mind builds about its own purpose out of the role its profile plays. He separates real profiles from transitional ones, and he keeps the design side and the personality side of every profile distinct throughout.

What sets the course apart is going beneath the lines to the layer known as True Profile. The opening lecture walks through the keynotes of the Colors, from fear and hope through desire and need, and Ra reads each profile together with the Color beneath its lines. Six transpersonal roles run through the course: teacher, guru, priest, prophet, messenger and buddha. Color gives each profile a further nuance, an accent on the same twelve roles, and the free True Profile pages on this site cover the same layer. The profiles are worked in their families, from the Investigators through the Hermits, Martyrs, Opportunists and Heretics to the Role Models. The Heretic lecture links the fifth line's natural wariness to telling its own truth, and the Role Model lecture treats the sixth line as an example of unique purpose.

The last three lectures step into cosmology proper: angels and demons, rogue crystal bundles and what draws them, and entities and aliens. Here the course connects back to Bhan Tugh and Dying, Death and Bardo, because the nature of crystal bundles and the natural Bardo are the ground these lectures stand on. The Role Model lecture also ties profile to the larger transition, including the end of the seven-centered way of living.

Most people meet their profile as a personality description, and this course reads it as purpose working through a form. Ra returns more than once to keeping it simple with Strategy and Authority, the experiment underneath any reading of purpose.
