Both boundaries sit in the early morning. His certificate time of 9:35 PM falls more than twelve hours past the later one, deep inside the surviving 5/1 window with no boundary anywhere near it for the rest of the day. Type, Authority, and Definition were never actually at risk here, certificate or no certificate; what the certificate buys is the confidence to say Profile 5/1 rather than “5/1, unless he was born before 9:11 in the morning.”
His last Solar Return, and the day he died
Nixon suffered a severe stroke at his home in Park Ridge, New Jersey, on the evening of April 18, 1994, minutes before sitting down to dinner, and died four days later at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center in Manhattan, at 9:08 PM Eastern on April 22. The time is unusually clean for this series: the hospital announced it the same night, and the wire services carried it within hours (Deseret News, April 23, 1994).

Surrender is a fitting name for the final year of a man who had already put in writing that no extraordinary measures were to keep him alive.
