My Own Chart: The Wind I Was Told I'd Love
A reading told me I loved windy places. I don't, and chasing down why sent me into my own rectification. What the correction actually moved: Motivation, Variable, Design Moon and a life trajectory, all at once, while Type and Authority never moved at all.
A teacher once told me my chart showed I loved windy places, and that people built like me sleep with the window open for the air. I hate wind on my skin. I cannot run a fan at night and rarely tolerate one during the day. The air conditioner has to be off me unless I am overheating in a parked car, and even then only until my skin cools. We live at the top of a valley that catches wind hard every monsoon season, and I dislike the whole season for it. None of that fit, and it sat with me for years.
Six posts in this series looked at other people’s birth data: Esther Hicks with an invented time, Bob Marley with a biography’s time and a date he disputed himself, Hillary Clinton with dirty data, Donald Trump with an actual birth certificate, Hale Appleman with no time on record at all, and Ra Uru Hu with a consistent self-report. The seventh chart is mine, including the reading that never fit and the rectification that came out of it.
If you are anywhere near my age, you probably remember the wall clocks in school that ran on their own schedule, a few minutes ahead of or behind every other clock in the building. Twenty-five years after I was born, I went back to the hospital to watch my niece arrive, and the clock on that wall was still keeping its own time. A birth certificate comes out of the same building, written down by someone glancing at a clock like that one. A few minutes of drift on that clock is enough to move a chart, and it is exactly the kind of error rectification exists to catch.
That wind reading is what finally sent me looking. I had a Vedic rectification done, the kind that works backward from real dated events in a life rather than forward from a guess, by Robert Koch, a Vedic astrologer whose name came to me from Ra’s widow and who has since read for my family as well. Years of my own Vedic study meant I could follow every step of his work. By then I was also deep enough into the IHDS Differentiation Degree program to understand what Ra meant when he said Human Design has a profound substructure underneath the Hexagram and Line most people meet it at. That training is what let me see exactly what the rectified time actually moved in my own chart, not just that something had moved.
The data
February 15, 1977, at 1:46 in the morning, UTC-10.
That time is not what anyone wrote down. The recorded time was 1:27. The 1:46 is a rectified time, arrived at by working backward from events in my life, which is a legitimate and long-established technique and is also, unavoidably, an estimate.
Nineteen minutes separate the two. This whole post is about what those nineteen minutes bought and what they cost.
What holds all day
I computed every five minutes of that day. Four things never move.
My Natal Human Design is Projected with abstract emotional authority. Both hold at every minute of the twenty-four hours, so the two facts that actually govern how I am meant to make decisions and enter things are not dependent on the rectification at all. I could be an hour wrong in either direction and the practical instruction for my life would be identical.
My incarnation cross is the Right Angle Cross of Contagion, 30/29 | 14/8, and it holds all day too. Personality Sun in Gate 30, the Clinging Fire, the gate of desire and of the fates.
And the 30-41 Channel of Recognition is defined at every minute of the day.
That last one matters to me, because the 30-41 is one of the three channels I count as channeling channels, alongside Ra’s identification of the 20-57 Brainwave and my own addition of the 43-23. The 30-41 is the one I carry, and no error in my birth time can take it away.
What nineteen minutes moved
I expected the rectification to move one thing. It moved four, and I did not expect them to move together.
At 1:27, my Personality Sun sits at 30.3.2: Motivation of Hope, the Color 2 role of the Guru, the non-physical read as daimons. At 1:46 it crosses into 30.3.3: Motivation of Desire, Color 3, the Priest, the non-physical read as ghosts, meaning disincarnate humans. I have had real experiences with ghosts for as long as I can remember, and I tested and studied the way someone chases a want rather than a duty, which is exactly how I earned my Advanced Placement credits and how I have approached every exam since. Desire explains both of those in a way Hope never did.
The same nineteen minutes carry my Variable from PRL DRL to PLL DRL, and they carry what I have always called my life trajectory from Anti-Theist to Leader. My Design Moon crosses too, from 1.5 to 1.6, Exalted: clear assessment of creative value, clarity in creative expression.
My other channel is not so stable either. At my rectified time I carry the 1-8 Channel of Inspiration, the creative role model. Around ten past three in the morning, the 1-8 drops out and the 43-23 arrives in its place. A birth eighty minutes later than mine would have given me the 43-23 natally, the second of my three channeling channels and a different creative mechanism entirely. I carry the 43-23 in my Chiron chart instead, and eighty minutes is all that separates those two versions of me.
My definition is split until noon and single after it. My profile is 3/5 until twenty to two in the afternoon, then 3/6, then 4/6 by twenty to five. The 3/5 I teach from and identify with is a morning fact.
The margin on the one I have to defend
Everything above held its ground because it sits nowhere near a boundary that day. My Motivation does not have that luxury.
The line between Color 2 and Color 3 falls at 1:45 and 30 seconds. My rectified time clears it by thirty seconds.
Here is what that margin means, after six posts of holding other people’s charts to exactly this standard: my Motivation is the least robust claim in this entire series, less robust than anything in Esther Hicks’ chart, whose time a blogger admits he invented, because her Color 3 at least had four hours of daylight around it. Mine has half a minute.
There is a second thing, and I would rather say it than have a reader think it. A rectified time that lands thirty seconds inside a color boundary is the shape a rectification would take if someone had been aiming at that color. I do not believe that is what happened, and I cannot prove it did not. What I can do is tell you the margin and let you weigh it, which is the entire practice this series has been arguing for.
So I will use my Motivation, Variable, Design Moon and life trajectory the way they deserve to be used: as a working hypothesis that fits my experience, not as facts I would teach from or build a reading on. If a document ever surfaces with a recorded time to the minute, I will publish whatever it says, including if it takes my Color 3 away.
What I actually take from this
The Color 3 correspondence is the one I find really interesting, in that the same thing, a Desire-motivated Leader trajectory, is also showing up in my current Chiron Return.
Meanwhile the parts of my chart that do the real work, that my natal design is Projected, that I wait for recognition and the invitation, that I have no truth in the now and have to ride out my emotional wave, that my cross is Contagion and my 30-41 is constant, sit there unbothered by any of it. Nineteen minutes moved my Motivation, my Variable, my Design Moon and my life trajectory all at once, and never touched any of that.
That is the finding of all seven charts, and it is more useful than any individual reading in them. The structural parts of a design are robust and the ornamental parts are fragile enough that a single correction can move four of them at once. Almost all the confident public chart reading you will encounter is happening in that fragile layer.
The method behind all seven charts, and what it means for your own, is on the birth time accuracy page. If you are chasing your own rectification, start with the plain paper trail before you go looking for someone like Robert Koch: the hospital, the state’s vital statistics office, a baby book, a baptismal record, or a bracelet, before any interpretive method. Most people’s answer is sitting in a drawer somewhere, not in a rectification.
Chart computed in-house. Birth time rectified, not recorded; the recorded time was 1:27 and is given above alongside it.
